| | scared | ] | I just awoke from the most unsettling dream i think i have ever had... in retrospect, it makes absolutely no sense, but it was the last images that were the worst. Warning, its a little odd and scary!...
I woke up on a train with my sisters, Rebecca and Rachel, parents not in sight. A bunch of other people (about 20 or so) were on the train also, just coming to. The train wasn’t moving, but the engine seemed to be running.
Looking out the window I realised I was in Geelong, my home town. But it looked empty. No one was on the streets, some houses were on fire, car doors were open and askew in the middle of the road as if the drivers had slammed their feet on the breaks and abandoned their vehicles in haste.
A man suggested we get the train moving, maybe whatever made everyone else run away, would come back. At this point i woke up and it was about 2.30am. I was trying to figure out what the dream meant, why was i on this train with these people? Where were my parents? What had happened to the town? Wanting to know, i fell asleep again.
Back on the train, heading towards Melbourne... No one could seem to remember what had happened. One woman said “I remember taking a shower before climbing to bed... and that’s it!”. Suddenly we were in the city (you know when dreams seem to jump around a bit but you don’t notice?). Melbourne was the same as Geelong, some buildings on fire, cars abandoned, no one anywhere.
Walking away from Southern Cross Station, we encountered a guy wandering around who was speaking gibberish. He said something along the lines of “the monsters wouldn’t take me but they’ll take you”. Profoundly unsettled and even more puzzled, we ran back to the train and made a group decision to leave the city. But where would we go?
Here i woke up again, 4.30am now... i still had no idea what the dream was about, but i was very... well, i dunno. I was sad my parents weren’t there but i was also scared of falling asleep because i didn’t WANT to know what happened... how could it be a happy ending?
Back on the train, we headed to Sydney... thinking ‘maybe it had just happened in Victoria’. My eldest sister Rebecca decided she wanted to go back to Geelong and look for our parents. Rachel and I pleaded with her “No! Stay here, please! We need you” but she got her own train and left us. Oddly enough, we weren’t sad and went on trying figure out what all these people had in common.
Arriving at Circular Key in Sydney... we found the same emptiness... we saw a few people wandering the streets, but they were like the man in Melbourne: broken inside, crazy, uttering nonsense. Somehow we got to the University of New South Wales, it was abandoned aswell, “no answers anywhere it seemed, even at a University!” I said out loud
Suddenly my phone rang and it was my old boss “Tim where are you!?” “I don’t know” i replied. “You need to get here soon, we’re so busy i need all my staff on” (It was at that point i semi-realised i was dreaming). The video on my phone lit up and there was Paul, running around serving people in this massively oversized version of a cafe i used to work in. “Paul! Theres no one left in Melbourne, get out” “Are you crazy!? And leave all these hungry customers!? HELL NO!” and he hung up. The customers he was serving... i never got a good look at them as they were silloheted but they didn’t look human...
Leaving the station, the majority of The Group wanted to keep heading North; their reason being that rural Queensland would be the perfect place to hide. Many people dissented saying they wanted to head South again, “Lets go back to Victoria, it’s our home”. We set off again in no defined direction, just being out of the city seemed to make it better. I began writing peoples name on a black board. “Tim, Rachel, Rebecca, James, Mary, Peter...” someone said “They’re all biblical names... what’re the odds that everyone here has a name from the bible?” my phone rang again. I answered it “Hello?... Hello?!”. All i could hear was sobbing on the other end, i could hear my old dog barking and my sisters chicken clucking.
“Rebecca!? Is that you!!? REBECCA!” she replied “Did you hear those noises last night? I think some ones in the house...” I looked at my phone and saw her room. It looked like she’d slept on the floor with her mattress and bed pushed against the door. She went to the door and let out a horrified squeal, 2 people walked into her room as she backed towards the window. They weren’t people at all, they looked like large yellow goblins.
She backed onto the wall, sobbing saying “please no...”, Scully was wimpering and Rachel and I were screaming at the phone as the lead goblin drew two large swords with circular hooked blades at the tips and slashed them downwards...
That’s when i realised i was sitting up, in my own room yelling “NO!” My housemate burst into the room and asked me ‘what was wrong’, “nothing “i said, “just a bad dream...” I am incredibly on edge at the moment, I’ve never had a dream that had shaken me so much that i’ve woken up screaming before! I still have no idea what its supposed to mean or why my brain would conjure up such a macabre situation... I’m still shaking... |
